Wood
Our primary wood species is clear maple hardwood. Each individual piece of wood possesses its own unique character and natural wood grain, thereby acquiring its own signature look.
The natural beauty of wood varies from cream to medium brown to light gray. Hardwoods inherently may include brown highlights or graining referred to as mineral streaking. These are natural inclusions in the wood and may be visible on lighter finishes.
Joinery
Our centuries-old joinery techniques add resilient beauty to our transitional and sleek modern designs. Swaim’s method of joinery allow for expansion and contraction in natural materials that vary due to changes in climate and humidity.
Finishes
Swaim offers a wide variety of fine finishes. All of our finishes are applied by skilled craftsmen; therefore, each finished piece is unique. A Swaim finish will not only enhance the natural grain and character of the wood, it will also preserve and protect the surface from daily use. Because each piece is finished by hand, the samples we supply should be used for general color only. Variations may occur due to atmospheric conditions, chemical changes and artisan procedures. Natural blemishes, dark streaks and mineral streaks in the wood may show through when a finish is applied. Natural characteristics will be more pronounced when a light finish is used.
Dimensions
All product dimensions are approximate. Due to the hand-crafted nature of our products, size may vary slightly. Varying thicknesses of coverings/fillings and the individual upholstery technique of each craftsman account for small variations in dimensions. Swaim assumes no responsibility for overall width, depth or height unless items are special ordered to fit within an exact space.
